Bell Pepper Study

This project was a study of form and design implications using the bell pepper as the topic of study. I chose the object by studying it and other objects’ forms through hand drawn renderings and reductive renderings. I then studied the form with text by using and then reversing the two elements’ dominance in composition. Not shown here is a compositional study of color and text/figure dominance in the form of a three-dimensional object, focusing on communicating the idea of the pepper’s “aroma” through a flow of text, abstracted form and color. These shorter studies lead to research on the bell pepper for an informational panel on the pepper’s lack of spiciness in comparison to other peppers in the same family. The project as a series was meant to study form typographical elements as elements of design and communication. All pieces were designed as print media.
